OCTAVIAN DROOBERS WIN THE 2015 WEST MIDLANDS ORIENTEERING ASSOCIATION LEAGUE
The West Midlands League event at Badgerslade, Cannock Chase, organised by Walton Chasers, was the last race in the 2015 series of 12. Octavian Droobers competed well to enhance their lead in the league becoming 2015 league winners.
Congratulations to the 15 club members whose combined scores came to a superb 7435 points overall, well ahead of Wrekin Orienteers 6948 and Harlequins 6660 points. Scoring the maximum 500 points from winning 5 out of the 12 events in their respective age classes were: Peter Markham M12, Felix Lunn M14, David Leadley M50, Lesley Ross W45, Liz Phillips W50, Peter Carey M70, Roger Hailey M75, Sam Leadley M16, Florence Lunn W12 and Sheila Carey W65.
Alistair Powell M35 scored 498, Hilary Simpson W75 487, Oliver Flippance M14 485 Chris McCartney M45 483 and Barry Elkington M55 482. Many other club members also had some great results this year ensuring other clubs competitors were pushed down the league table.
At Badgerslade, Felix Lunn M14 had a terrific run on the Green 4.46km course with 140 metres of climb coming 1st in 42.03mins. Oliver Lunn M14 won the Light Green 3.54km course with 100 metres of climb taking 28.45mins and Oliver Flippance M14 was 2nd in 32.10mins. Finley Flippance M10 was 1st on the Yellow 2.53km course in 23.20mins.
