WEEKEND RESULTS ROUND UP

The Lancashire Hot Pot weekend of events proved popular with Octavian Droobers. On Saturday our relay team competed in the British Relay League final and our men’s team of Matt Elkington, Barry Elkington and Alan Segar enjoyed the experience with Matt getting them off to a flying start on the first leg coming in 1st place with the team eventually placed 13th. The Tockholes middle distance event saw Sheila Carey W65 notch up a win on the Short Green 2.5k course with Sue Bicknell W65 coming in 3rd in 64.04mins and Hilary Simpson W70 4th in 65.29mins. On the Brown 4.6k course Toni O’Donovan W21 came 2nd in 47.11mins and Julie Emmerson W16 5th in 49.48mins.

On Sunday the Long Distance courses were staged at Hameldon Hills and the event was a selection race for England representation at the Interland International 2013, the UK Cup Final and Future Champions Cup Final. OD members produced some great runs and Sheila Carey W65 pulled off another win on the short Green 3.2k course in 50.14mins, Harrison McCartney M14 came in first place on the Blue 6.2k course clocking up 50.18mins, Aimee Morse W16 did very well coming 2nd on the Green 4.1k course in 43.30mins and Julie Emmerson W16 was 3rd on the Short Blue 5.4k course in 54.25mins. In the FCC Final Will Gardner M20 was placed 9th 65.39mins and Matt Elkington M18 10th 65.51mins.

Also on Sunday many club youngsters from Kenilworth School went to the Hollybed Common event in the Malvern Hills, part of the Harlequins club league, to experience some more technical terrain. Congratulations to Will Southall 1st 17.04mins, Ben Goldie 2nd 17.57mins and 3rd Sam Harris 18.39mins, all M14’s who competed on the Orange 2.2k course. Presentations were made at the event to winners of the Malvern and District Mini League: Stephen Elkington 1st boy, Rachel Emmerson 1st girl and Julie Emmerson 3rd girl on the Green courses and Anne Straube 2nd woman on the Blue courses.

The club wishes youngsters: Matt Elkington M18, Julie Emmerson W16 and Harrison McCartney M14 well when they travel to Surrey to compete for England in the Junior Home Internationals. Also on Saturday the club is organising the British Schools Score Championships which is taking place at Kingsbury Water Park in Warwickshire and the club is very pleased that so many of our junior club members will be competing for their schools and wish them every success.
