CLUB WIN AT CSC QUALIFER

Over 70 members of the Octavian Droobers orienteering club attended the national Compass Sport Cup Qualifier event. The event was organised by Walton Chasers and held at Brereton Hayes and Spurs on Cannock Chase. Conditions on the day were fantastic with blue skies and a light dusting of snow making for great views in the woods and some very fast times.

The results show the club scored 2323 points 173 points clear of the next team HOC’s total of 2150 points, so not only are OD through to the final but they have also won the qualifier in style beating 7 other midland clubs. The team score is the total number of points awarded to the top 25 competitors from the club.

There were some fantastic individual performances making up the winning team score. Jamie Nicolson, Lesley Ross, Matthew Elkington, Amy Sarkies, Hamish Rogers and Julie Emmerson were all awarded the maximum score of 100 points for winning their class. Sophie Kirk and Emma Kettley both received 98 points and 96 points went to Jane Halliday, Sheila Carey, Rachel Emmerson and Heather Rogers.

OD are looking forward to competing in the final on 30 September near Teviothead in the Scottish Borders about 35 miles north of Carlisle.
