[-] Gruesom Green (Length 5.1km, 27 controls)
Thank you to everyone who came to my event in Brueton Park, which was rather boggy and sad (to quote Rob Smart, “who put that path in that river?”) It was lovely to see so many familiar faces, as well as a good number of new faces.
It was my first time organising and planning an event, and I was pleased to hear many compliments about my courses. Brueton is not a technically difficult area, so I found it tough to find control sites that would be challenging enough for the green course. Therefore I was pleased to hear that control number 3 on the green course tested a good number of competitors (I tried hard not to sound smug there!)
Thank you to Bruce Bryant for help and advice with maps and courses, and to Liz Phillips for overall advice. Thanks to Thelma Spalton for her coaching event alongside the courses. Thank you to everyone who helped with control collection – Mike Snell, Lin Page, Leo Morgado, and Lucas Howarth – and also to Stan and Rachel Alexander who offered to help with this. And thank you to Lin Page and Max “The Pumpkin King” Howarth for help with registration and download.
