Gates Run Organiser's Comments
Thank you for coming along. Some good times, in particularly 11 year old Pippa on her first circuit - the only junior.
It was a very pleasant evening for a run, and the conditions underfoot were reported as unusually dry. Looking forward, 2016 will be the 50th year of The Gates Run since it was started by Jock Campbell At hat time Jock was master in charge of cross-country running at John Willmott Grammer School, here in Sutton Coldfield.
For various reasons, next year will be my final year of staging the event - For 2017 I am looking for someone to start the next 50 years. I believe that there is a diminishing interest within Octavian Droobers, so am looking for any person, group or Club who might like to take the run on. Colour-Coded Course Organiser's Comments
Many thanks to all who turned out to run an orienteering course instead of (or as well as in one case) the Gates Run. It was a glorious sunny day in Sutton Park and although it had clouded up a bit by the evening it was still good orienteering weather.
Thank you for some very positive comments on the courses, although apologies are due for one of the controls on the Green and Orange courses not being in quite the right location, and for the loss of one of the controls towards the end of the evening.
Many thanks to: Bruce Bryant for the map file, to Bob Brandon for his support and advice re the courses, to Karin for her encouragement with newcomers, John Middler, Roman Kotecky and Leo Morgado for control collection, to Sue Hallett for help with packing away and to Leo again for help with Registration and Download.
