Organisers' Comments

The last 3 years the annual Kenilworth urban event  has had just 2 courses, a medium and long. This year it is hoped to get a West  Midlands Urban League up and running. So to this end I planned 4 courses to  accomodate the various age classes called for in urban league guidelines. As  this was the first event in the new league (4 events planned this year so far),  I did not know how many extra non OD would turn up so guessing how many maps to  print was just that - guesswork. I just about got away with it - A and B sold  out, C nearly did. The sunny early summer weather certainly helped. I hoped  everyone enjoyed their jaunt round Kenilworth - sorry about the  nettles! It's the time of year. Also sorry to the 2 people who suffered  when controls were brought in before they had got there (but it was after course  closing time). My thanks to John Embury for helping me to collect in some of the  town controls.
Finally, I have had a couple of complaints  about runners entering private land (one my fault). Please, please, please, read  your map and keep out of gardens.

Thanks,
 Mike (Urban Course Organiser)

On a pleasant summer evening it was great to see a turnout of nearly a hundred competitors. We didn't suffer from the same control vandalism as last year, and although the control by the bridge was thrown into the bushes this was quickly put back in place and affected just a small number of the early starters. Times for these competitors have been adjusted to allow for this.

Mike Hampton planned the urban courses, so I hope those that took to the roads enjoyed themselves.

My thanks to Melanie for running the registration; Karin and other club members for helping the newcomers.

Barry Elkington.
