Thanks to all those who came to Saturday morningā€™s Hartshill Hayes event. We had a brilliant turnout with 64 runners across the 4 courses.
This woodland is such a great area to practice many orienteering techniques from compass bearings to contour interpretation. The courses were deliberately planned to help competitors practice skills required for a middle-distance type event. There were a number of controls close together which did catch a couple of people out! The moral of the story is to check control descriptions and codes! Hopefully, this will put competitors in good stead for the upcoming British events and JK in April.
A huge thank you to all the helpers who helped to hang controls and collect at the end of the day - I couldn't have done it as quickly and efficiently without you. Another big thank you to Bruce for helping with some course alterations and good quality maps for all courses.
I hope you had a wonderful morning, enjoyed the courses and had a lovely afternoon after the event. I spent it watching the final six nations rugby matches!
