Pupils from Coventry and Warwickshire schools competed in the West Midlands Schools Orienteering Championships at an event organised by City of Birmingham Orienteering Club and held at Sandwell Valley Country Park.

Congratulations to Octavian Droobers juniors who represented their schools and  achieved some great individual top 3 results:  Andrew Tang, Park Hill Junior School, Kenilworth, won the Year 5 Boys class and Henry Jeffries, Princethorpe College, was  1st in the Year 9/10 Boys class. In second places were:  Richie Mack, representing Kineton High School, Year 9/10 Boys class; Rupert Powell, Alcester Grammar School, Year 7/8 Boys class; and Edward Powell, Berkswell C of E, Year 6 Boys class. Max Straube-Roth, Bablake and King Henry VIII School, was 3rd on the Year 7/8 Boys class.

Also experiencing the sport, many for the first time, were pupils from secondary schools: Kenilworth, North Leamington, and Southam College, and also Staverton Primary School.

Special mention to Balsall Common Primary School, who took the trophy for the best primary school performance in the competition. Jacqui Clark, OD club member, trains all the pupils and the hard work paid off with many earning 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals in the Year 5 and 6 Boys and Girls categories.
