NEW MIDLANDS CHAMPIONS

Five Octavian Droobers Orienteering Club members claimed individual Midlands Championship titles this weekend, racing in Sherwood Forest at a great event organised by Nottinghamshire Orienteering Club.

Nathan Lawson took the title on the M21 Elite 16.6km course in 88.49min just beating William Gardner into 2nd place with 89.11mins. Kirsten Strain was top runner on the W35 7.3km course in 52.52mins Anne Straube was champion on the W45 6.7km course in 57.55mins, Alistair Landels became M50 champion in 62.51mins on the 9.6km course and Barry Elkington took 1st place on the M65 6.7km course in a great time of 46.59mins.

Some good top 3 places were earned by: Nadine Wright 2nd on the W21 course, a 2nd place for Juliette Soulard in her W50 class, Sheila Carey on W75 course and Hilary Simpson on W80 course. David Leadley was 3rd on the M55 course in 61.56mins only 35 secs behind the winner and Margaret Willdig 3rd in the W65 class.

The next local event takes place in the woods at Everdon Stubbs, near Daventry, on Saturday 19th February.
