CASTLE HILL, DAVENTRY COUNTRY PARK AND WEST WOODS RESULTS
Castle Hill Country Park at Anstey, near Leicester was a popular if extremely wet and muddy venue for Sundays regional event laid on by Leicestershire Orienteering Club. Hundreds of orienteers participated on a range of differing length courses and many OD club members competed. Top 10 places were achieved by Barry Elkington 9th on the longest course Brown 10.2km taking 71.27mins. Tony Feltbower M65 was 8th on the Green 5km course in 45.28mins and Mike Hampton M70 was 6th on the Short Green 4.1km course in 44 mins. Rachel Alexander was 7th on the Light Green course and Sue Hallett 4th on the Orange 3.4km course.
North Wiltshire Orienteering club staged an event running through the beech trees of West Woods, just south of Marlborough and Chris McCartney M50 was 4th on the Blue 5.6km course in 41.10mins and Joanne Leigh W50 was 2nd on the Short Green 2.9km course in 36.55mins just 13 seconds behind the winner.
Tom Jeffries organised a really well supported local event centred around Daventry Country Park. Many newcomers turned up to experience this great fun adventure sport. Youngsters especially enjoyed all the mud and puddle jumping required and running to find the controls points placed around the park. Club member Kin Wai M21 was the fastest on the day taking only 40.31mins to find 22 controls on the 5.1km course, Kevin Stevens M45 was 2nd in 44.50mins and Mike Snell M60 3rd in 45.39mins. Greg Harris M40 was 1st on the 4.1km course in 28.45mins, Richard Windsor M55 2nd in 30.26mins and Andy Cherry M45 3rd in 36 mins. Luke Cherry M16 was 1st on the 2.6km course taking 17.29mins, Steve Stacey M21 2nd in 27.36mins and Octavia Wisbey W21 3rd in 28.13mins. Rory M12 and Hattie Sarkies W10 won the Yellow 2.1km course in 24.33mins, Tierney Hunt M9 was 2nd in 24.47mins and Seth Marks M6 3rd in 26.13mins
