JUNIORS THROUGH TO YVETTE BAKER NATIONAL INTERCLUB FINAL

 

Fielding a fairly small team, the junior orienteering club members managed to score 888 points only 7 points behind winners Walton Chasers 895 points. The event staged at Shoal Hill near Cannock tested the juniors especially several first timers. They go forward to the final will be held at Nottingham University on 5th July.

Top 9 scorers for the club were junior captain, Harrison McCartney with 100 points who came 1st on the Green course and Nathan Lawson scored 99 points coming 2nd on the same course. On the Light Green Boys course Felix Lunn scored the maximum 100, Alfie Bullus 99 and Sam Leadley 98 points.  Ella-Rose McCartney also scored the maximum 100 points on the Light Green Girls course and Oliver Lunn 98 and Peter Markham 97 points on the Orange Boys course. Nathan Chapple score 97 points on the Yellow Boys course.

This event attracted several adult club members and the best result on the Brown 9.2km course was achieved by David Lawson M50 who took 70.36mins only 2 minutres behind the winner. Lesley Ross W45 was 2nd 61.51mins and Anne Straube W40 3rd in 63.09mins on the 6.8km Blue course and Bruce Bryant M55 was 2nd on the Green 4.9km course. Paul Quinney M45 was fastest OD club member on the Short Green 3.5km course taking 59.50mins.
