11 podiums for Droobers in Overall & Sprints
This year's JK was a well-organised and delivered event in and around Sheffield. There were some great courses on each day although there were a few comments about course lengths and terrain on some of the older age-group courses.
It was a successful JK for Droobers; in the sprint, Nathan Lawson and Pete Carey took 1st places while Sheila Carey and Trevor Simpson also made the podium in 3rd place; overall, Juliette Soulard, Stephen Elkington, Alistair Landells and Pete Carey were all in 1st place with Sheila Carey getting a second place while Anne Straube and Hilary Simpson came home with a 3rd place. The weather was kind for the individual days with Sunday being particularly sunny up on Wharncliffe but it was somewhat wetter for the relays on Monday. Phil Vokes, Matt Elkington and Nathan Lawson took a hard fought 1st place in the JK Trophy but the rain must have had a dampening effect on Droobers as we did not manage another podium positiuon.
As always, the JK was a great opportunity for members to gather as a club and this year's was no exception. With Easter being so late, another opportunity will follow in a couple of weeks at the British Longs and British Relays up in the Lake District so make sure to enter and join your coplleagues in the ever sunny Lakes!
