Organisers Comments

Another lovely evening and a decent turnout – thank you all for coming. I had to recycle a few maps but nobody had to wait. The recent dry weather radically changed the terrain from 6 inches of mud in places (courtesy of the rain and quad bikes) to bone dry paths in three weeks which I am sure was appreciated by most people and we just missed the nettle season!

This was the first summer evening event that I had planned and it certainly brought home to me how much is involved but it is worth doing (I can recommend giving it a go). Many thanks to Barry Elkington for his informative ‘teach ins’ for new planners to get me started and especially to Karin Kirk and Bob Brandon for their help on the day. Thanks to those kind people who collected in the controls, John Middler, Will Critchley and Sophie Kirk at the end of the day when my legs had just about given up.

Finally, a quick word to say welcome to the newcomers to orienteering, particularly those graduating from the Rugby Borough Council beginners courses run by Karin Kirk and Mike Hampton. I hoped you enjoyed your evening.
