Controller – Robert Roalfe
It is always pleasing when people take the time to make positive comments about the courses and show their appreciation of the hard work that goes into even the smallest of events! Areas like Pooley Fields are not the easiest to plan on and the planner has to work with serious restrictions on what is possible for each course. Sue produced courses which made good use of the varied terrain and showed some runners how challenging such a small area can be. Many thanks to all who came to help and made sure the event ran so smoothly and so painless for the controller!

Planner – Sue Bicknell
Thanks to OD for letting me have another go at planning, I always enjoy the challenge and the excuse to spend time in the forest.  Perhaps that is the wrong description for Pooley Fields as it still has fledgling growth.  Even so I spotted many different flower species.  If you paused on top of the hill you could count four surrounding counties.
The area is very confined and limits the locations that can be used for control sites.  It also meant long runs at times between the controls but I felt there was no alternative.  I made use of one indefinite vegetation boundary (with the controller's blessing) but it would have made the courses too bingo-esque to use more.  The resulting times seem to indicate the courses were about right.
The event was made so much more easy for me, both before and on the day, by the help given by (unfat) Controller Robert and I would like to thank him for his efforts.
At one point Robert left his bike in the field along with a spare punch and kite while he checked a nearby control and came back to find someone trying to use the punch.  I called in at the 2nd master maps to check all was in order and dropped the spare control I was carrying to free my hands to collect dumped up maps.  In seconds two runners had used the spare punch instead of the correct one.  You certainly were avid competitors and I hope Organiser Bob can understand the assorted punch marks.

Organiser – Bob Brandon
Thank you all for coming.  We first used the area for an informal Saturday morning event towards the end of last year, albeit the area is small we thought that it would be worth putting on a colour coded event to attract more to enjoy the Country Park.  From your comments you will be coming back another time.  Whilst I was thinking that Sue and Robert had done well to get the longer course over 6 km, our mad mapper Mike Hampton reckons that there is still scope for a Brown !
A big thank you to The Team - everyone turned up keen to help the event happen.  The DIY registration worked well, Helen Morris tells me that it is less stressful for you – rather than being asked 'what start-time would you like?" you could get your bits and make that decision at your leisure.
Thank you to those who look after Pooley Fields – we would like to come back please.
