URBAN CITY RACES AROUND LINCOLN AND GLOUCESTER

Traversing city pavements, crossing bridges over docks and racing around cathedrals saw club members searching for controls on varying levels whilst enjoying the fine weather.

Well done to Alfie Bullus M16, winner of the Men’s Junior race, who took 21.14mins on the 3.03km course at the Lincoln Orienteering event. In the Men’s Open there was a tussle between OD juniors Harrison McCartney M18 who was just beaten into 2nd place in 58.56mins by Nathan Lawson M20 58.01mins on the 8.84km course with 125metres of climb.

Chris McCartney M45 was 5th on the Men’s Veteran 7.1km course taking 47.18mins and David Lawson M50 7th in 51.00mins. Bruce Bryant M55 was 8th in the Men’s Ultra Vets 3.83km race. Anne Straube W40 was 4th in 46.59mins and Liz Phillips W50 7th in 51.00mins in the 4.75km Women’s Vet race. Margaret Willdig W60 was 6th in 39.22mins on the 3.83km course.

The very varied course made an exciting fast race around Gloucester Docks. Sophie Kirk W21 was 2nd female and 6th overall in 49.55mins on the longest Blue 6.7km course.
