GREAT BRITAIN HOSTS WORLD ORIENTEERING CHAMPIONSHIPS

This weekend sees the start of the World Orienteering Championships. British Orienteering is pleased to welcome international orienteers to the challenging, inspiring and unique terrain found in the Highlands of Scotland and Moray areas.  The races include an urban sprint and mixed sprint relay, middle distance, long distance and forest relay

Amongst the 353 athletes from 49 countries there will be two current Octavian Droobers club members: Toni O Donovan who will be representing Ireland and Mathias Podsiadly representing Poland. We wish them every success.

Naturally the club will be cheering the Great Britain Squad on, especially two ex Droobers: Jess Tullie (nee Halliday) and Graham Gristwood. Another ex Droober Will Critchley will be representing Canada.

Fifty four Droobers will be joining the 5200 competitors who will be taking part in the Scottish 6 days public races, which are widely recognised as one of the world’s top multiday events, running alongside the World Championships.
