CLUMBER PARK RESULTS

 

This year the annual Robin Hood Trophy was held at Clumber Park, near Worksop in Nottinghamshire. Over 30 Octavian Droobers travelled up to the event to join the 500 orienteers from around the midlands resulting in several top ten positions.

Top club member was Will Gardner M21, representing Sheffield University, who came 1st on the longest course, 12.6k with 28 controls, finishing in 69.06mins. Nathan Lawson M18 took 78.10mins and was placed 7th on the same course. Chris McCartney M40 was 3rd on the Brown 10.7k course in 74.14mins. On the Short Brown 8.6k course David Lawson M50 was 8th in 59.51mins, Andy Emmerson M55 9th on the 7k Blue course in 57.05mins and Bob Brandon M65 10th on the Short Blue 5.6k course in 49.54mins. Kevin Ross M50 was 4th in 45.12mins and Roger Hailey M75 5th in 45.56mins on the Short Green 4k course.

Overall Octavian Droobers were placed 3rd in the Trophy competition scoring 173, with Derwent Valley winning with 130 points and Nottingham Orienteering Club coming second scoring 137 points. Point scorers for the club were Lesley Ross, Carolyn Marr, Helen Elkington, Hilary Simpson, Nathan Lawson, Andy Emmerson, Chris McCartney, Peter Carey, Bob Brandon, David Lawson and Kevin Ross.

Mike Hampton M65 is continuing his success competing in Portugal and won the urban night sprint by almost 2 and half minutes in atrocious weather, heavy rain, driving wind all high up in the clouds.
