Planner's comments for Hay Wood:

Thankfully it stayed dry on the day which made the event more enjoyable and probably explains the exceptional attendance. Apologies to those who had to wait for a recycled map and to those who had to surrender their maps. If anyone would like a copy please email me (johnmiddler@yahoo.com) and I will forward it. I hoped to set challenging courses and judging by finishing times, I managed to achieve this. No doubt the vegetation had a huge impact on route choice and runnability. I did try to avoid the worst areas. Seasonal growth did mean that some of the clearings and veg boundaries were not as clear as they should have been. I apologise for the confusion caused by having two starts. This was mainly due to having 2 planners. Thanks go to Michael HM for his first planning attempt on CONDES on the yellow course. It was challenging and some legs were very orangie for yellow - but this was intentional. Thanks also go to Graham and Liz for doing all of the organising, registration and results. Thanks also to Mike and Alan for collection controls. Also a special mention and thanks to Michael Baggott for reporting and quelling a smouldering forest fire.
