Octavian Droobers took the opportunity to travel to two events one a two day event in Norfolk, at Thetford, and the other, much nearer in Bagworth New Wood, Leicestershire.

 

Over 30 competitors from the club were at the East Midlands League event in Bagworth and there were fantastic runs from two club juniors on the longest and most technical course.  Harrison McCartney M18 was 1st on the 9.3km course with 155 metres of climb finding all 25 controls in 63.09mins only seconds ahead of Nathan Lawson M18 63.45mins. Fathers of both boys also had good runs: David Lawson M50 5th in 72.26mins and Chris McCartney M45 7th 74.31mins.

 

Stephen Elkington M18 was 1st on the Green 4.5km course in 43.38mins, Liz Phillips W50 4th in 48.40mins and Peter Carey M70 5th in 49.11mins. Chris Markham M10 was 1st on the Short Yellow 1.8k course in 36.00mins and brother Peter M12 3rd on the Orange 3km course in 44.01mins. Other top ten places were achieved by Lesley Ross  W45 7th on the Blue 6km course in 58.30mins, Janet Richardson W65 4th in 52.24mins and John Bowman M70 10th in 59.26mins on the Short Green 3.4km course.

 

At Santon Downham on Day 1 of the Thetford Thrash, John Ward M70 was 3rd on the Green 4.9km course in 51.20mins, Mike Hampton M65 was 5th in 56.11mins on the Short Blue 6km course. Mike finished 6th at Croxton Heath on Day 2 on the 5.37km course in 49.55mins and John 4th on the 4.35km course in 47.36mins.
