COUNDON PARK, COVENTRY RESULTS

The last of the summer series of events was held at Coundon Park and organised by Richard Gardner and family. Several new orienteers were made welcome and enjoyed the experience of running and navigating to the controls put out around the park. New orienteer Joe Quinney M10, from Harbury ran the fastest around the short Yellow 2.1km course taking 18.26mins. New member Aoife Carey W14 from Coventry was 2nd in 22.23mins and Joel Taylor M10, from Rugby, was 3rd in 21.26mins.

On the Orange 2.7km course Leo Morgado M40 was 1st in 23.03mins; Peter Markham M10 was 2nd in 24.06mins and new member Jane Walker W55 3rd in 38.05mins. Anne Straube W35 was 1st on the 3.6km Short Green Course in 27.29mins, Alfie Bullus M14 2nd in 30.12mins and John Ward M65 3rd in 32.50mins. On the long Green 5.6km course Tony Feltbower M60 was 1st in 33.29mins, John Embrey M55 (Harlequins) 2nd in 33.49mins and Colin Lynch M45 (South Yorkshire) 3rd in 34.41mins.

At the Junior Home International in Oban, Scotland, this weekend Julie Emmerson W18 came 2nd representing England in the individual race only 21 seconds behind the winner from Wales, contributing to Englandā€™s first place in the Saturday Individual races ahead of Scotland. Following the relays on Sunday England were pushed into a close second with 127 points, Scotland scoring 129.

At the Bath Blast 2 day event, with courses staged at Bath University and around the City, three OD members were placed in the top ten. In the Sprint at the University on Saturday Liz Phillips W50 was 2nd in the prologue and final, Mike Hampton M65 3rd and Bruce Bryant M55 8th. At the Bath City Urban event Liz was 4th in the Womens Vet class, Bruce Bryant 6th and Mike Hampton 8th in the Mens Ultra Vet class.
