OD MEMBERS SELECTED FOR WORLD CLASS SQUADS  

Congratulations to Matt Halliday M21 who has been selected to join the British Orienteering Federation World Class Squad, and to Will Gardner M18, Sophie Kirk W18 and Joanna Halliday W21 who have joined the World Class Talent Squad. They will all be traveling to North Yorkshire this weekend to train with other World Class athletes.  

At the November Classic in the New Forest, Hampshire, over 1000 competitors ran through open and wooded terrain interspersed with streams and some very boggy areas. On the Black course Andy Simpson M21 came 1st in his class (1.12.21) as did Lesley Ross W40 on the Short Brown 1.17.17 and Hilary Simpson W70 1.03.31 on the Short Green. Sue Bicknell W65 came 2nd in her class on the Green course in 1.20.31 and Sophie Kirk W18 also came 2nd in her class on the Short Brown in 1.10.06. Will Gardner M18 was 3rd on the Black course in 1.25.17 and Matt Elkington M16 was also 3rd on the Blue course in 54.08mins. 

Bruce Bryant M50 came 1st on Day 1 of the Cheshire Urban Orienteering Weekend in the veteran men’s class in 19.14mins and Liz Phillips W45 came 2nd in the women’s final only 5 secs behind the winner. On day 2 at the Chester City sprint Liz was 4th in the open women’s race in 52.18mins and Mike Hampton M60 was 1st M60 home in the M55 class, 36.49mins.
